1.1 Rationale

The term "coaching" is used more and more in the field of consulting and education, but very often it is unclear how coaching differs from counselling or therapy....

Often there is no professional basis or know-how about coaching methods. On the one hand a great difference of coaching expertise, the demand and usage of coaching between the Western and Eastern European countries can be observed. On the other hand it is expected by teachers or managers to act as "coaches" in their working environment. For these reasons the SC4SC-project started a discussion about a profound, professional and transnational understanding of coaching.
